# Freewriter 3AM > Freewriter 3AM is a free online writing application created by Ricky Browne and published by 7B.AU. It is designed for authors, bloggers and journalers who want to plan, focus and draft. Freewriter 3AM includes rich-text and plain-text drafting, document notes, Syfter side-by-side writing, a freewriting game, writing goals, statistics, exports and optional paid CloudSync. The core web application is free. CloudSync can keep separate 3AM, Play and Pro writing copies available across devices; manual backups are still recommended. ## Primary pages - [Freewriter 3AM](https://3am.freewriter.app/): Open the writing application. - [Freewriter 3AM Help Centre](https://3am.freewriter.app/help/): Complete, plain-language documentation for the editor, Files, Notes, Actions, Stats, Settings, CloudSync, backups, privacy and troubleshooting. - [Freewriter Apps](https://get.freewriter.app/): Official overview of Freewriter 3AM, Play, Pro and CloudSync. - [Support](https://rickybrowne.com/support/): Official support. - [Policies](https://rickybrowne.com/policies/): Policies and privacy information. ## Key behaviour - Files can be standalone documents or books with nested chapters. - Notes can be local to a file, shared across a book, or global. - Workflow stages and colour tags are separate organising systems. - Daily goals count words typed into documents. Notes and pasted text do not count. - PDF and Doc exports can contain one document or note per page. - Local writing is saved in the browser. Manual backups are recommended. - CloudSync is optional and shows a choice when browser and cloud copies conflict.
